When you picture yourself relaxing at a spa, usually your mind’s eye will see cucumbers on the eyes. Cucumbers and other natural remedies can help soothe and alleviate the puffiness of the eyes and help with those dark circles. Here is a list of natural remedies that can help get rid of those for good.

  • Cucumber – You can use cucumbers on their own to help with under-eye swelling. They have an anti-inflammatory effect that can be effective in helping de-puff the eyes. They are helpful in cooling the temperature of the eye area which can decrease the flow of blood to the space around and under your eyes which can help alleviate swelling.   • Rose Water – There’s been a lot of buzz recently around the amazing properties that rose water can have on your skin. The eye area is no exception. Like the milk, use cotton balls soaked in rose water and place on the eyelids. If you can lay down and leave them on for about 15 minutes, this is the most beneficial way to apply. Rosewater will soothe and hydrate the skin around the eyes, while helping to reduce dark circles. 
  • Lemon Juice – Similar to tomato juice, lemon juice has a combo of citric acid and vitamin C that creates a perfect natural bleaching agent. You can mix with tomato juice, soak cucumber in the lemon juice, or simply apply the lemon juice on its own. It will help with those dark circles that the under-eye area can develop. 
  • Cold Tea Bags – Tea bags can be helpful for reducing swelling around the eyes from the caffeine and tannins it contains. These can relax the eye area and help improve the elasticity of the skin while tightening the blood vessels. To use this natural remedy, soak two tea bags in hot water for about 5 minutes and then take them out, rinse excess liquid, and put them in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. Then you’ll take the cold tea bags and set them on your eyes for about 5-10 minutes. 

Changes In Sleep That Can Help

Getting enough sleep is obviously your number one priority, but there are also some simple ideas to help the quality of sleep you are getting and reduce the risk of waking up with bags under your eyes.
