Simple Morning Makeup

Are you a morning person or a night person? Believe it or not, CBS News estimates that most adults are morning people. Even so, in the 18 to 34 age group, only 43 percent lay claim to the title.

For everyone else, the thought of getting up early for work is enough to make you want to hit the snooze button, pull the cover over your head and go right back to sleep. If you’re one of these people, the good news is that even though you probably can’t make yourself become a morning person, you sure can look like one before you walk out the door.

The key is makeup. The problem is that morning makeup can feel like a hassle. With limited time to get dressed, grab coffee and be out the door in time to beat the morning traffic for work, there’s not always a lot of time left to apply your makeup.

Thankfully, this simple morning makeup routine will make makeup possible every morning, leaving you feeling beautiful.

Step One: Cleanse Your Skin

Applying makeup before cleansing your skin creates the perfect opportunity for skin problems to arise, which then require even more makeup to cover up. So, be sure to give your skin a fresh start by kicking off your makeup routine with a quick but proper cleansing.

For this first step, try the Bioelements Spotless Cleanser. The formula combines gentle exfoliation with papaya and pineapple extracts. These ingredients work together to clear away dead skin, remove bacteria and clean up blackheads and whiteheads.

Step Two: Add Moisture

No matter how gentle or light a cleanser is, washing the skin strips away the natural oils. Drying out the skin is made even more likely by the fact that most people wash their face with warm water, especially during the winter months.

Because of this, it’s important to replenish the skin with a moisturizer for the face. If you don’t have one at the ready, consider purchasing the Jane Iredale BeautyPrep Facial Moisturizer. This product hydrates the skin without any of the oily or waxy film other moisturizers often leave behind.

The cream is also infused with anti-aging properties to preserve your youthful appearance. Another moisturizer worth considering is the Purminerals Face Foundation 4 in 1 Tinted Moisturizer, which also acts as a great primer for makeup application.

Step Three: Blush a Little

Now that your skin is properly primed, it’s time to add some color. You’ll be happy to know that contouring and all the other highly technical makeup application techniques won’t be used here.

This is, after all, supposed to be simple! Instead, use a touch of blush to brighten up your complexion. If you’re new to makeup application, or you’re looking for a new pressed brush to try, the Jane Iredale Purepressed Blush comes highly recommended.

The antioxidants and minerals infused into this blush will transform your complexion from dull to vibrant, making you look fresh and well-rested.

Step Four: Highlight the Eyes

As the cliché goes, the eyes are the window to the soul. In fact, it is one of the first things you notice about a person when you see them. For this reason, even the most low-maintenance makeup routines tend to include eyeliner. Here are a few things to consider when picking a color:

  • Your preference, of course!
  • The dress codes or norms of work, church, etc.
  • Your skin tone

For instance, if you’re going out for the day with friends, then black eyeliner can add a dramatic flair to your look. However, if you’re headed to work or church, dark brown may be a better option.

Step Five: Protect Your Lips

Even if it’s not a lipstick morning, never leave your lips unprotected. Between the sun’s UV rays and the air conditioning in your car and the office, your lips take a beating. Protect them with lip balm to avoid painful stripping.

One great lip balm sporting 30 SPF is the EltaMD UV Lip Balm Broad Spectrum. Even better, after applying this lip balm, you’re still free to add a coat of your go-to lipstick, over it.

And voila — just like that, you’re all done! In just a few short minutes, you can create a fresh and natural look to start your day.
